This unofficial class site is maintained by Molly Gardner Burgess. Help and suggestions are welcomed.
If you are from our class, or want to contribute posts or information about our class, please give me a clue about who you are. I can’t find my yearbook and, although I remember exactly how you look(ed), I might not recognize your name.
Be sure to subscribe to this blog so you will receive a notification when something is posted.
Thanks Bill! Enjoyed reading about your post BHBL years.
Hope life is treating you well.
Doug
In answer to Doug’s question, I lived on Beechwood Drive in Charlton from the 5th grade, through BHBL Junior High, and moved to Ballston Spa and finally Lewiston, NY in early 1967. I graduated from Lewiston Porter in 1968, spent over four years in the Air Force, went to college, and have lived in Niagara Falls ever since. My heart always belonged to BHBL though, as my childhood memories were from there. I remember Tom Best, Jeff Gutshall, Lynn Vander Veer, Donna and Vicki Belanger, Paul Hiatt, Lynn Kuzia and many more that shaped my life. And yes, Doug, I remember Todd Putney and his perfect hair. So no, I didn’t graduate from BHBL, but my childhood memories: first girl friend, first car, first motorcycle and many other firsts, both good and bad, happened in Burnt Hills, and I will always call it home.
Wow! Alison Sheffer??!! There is another name of someone who was not in the senior or junior year book….along with Bill Fundis. When and where did these 2 go before graduation? I really love all this reconnecting as I am now remembering all sorts of people and events that I never knew I had forgotten.
I’ll throw out these names and see if anyone remembers…Todd Putney? James Dunne?
I also thought it was a great party…. the food, the lake, the house, Molly’s parents, the conversations… It was a small enough party that there was time to sit and talk, and that was wonderful. Molly, thank you for taking the initiative and making it happen. Thanks to your parents! Also, I’m so impressed that you were able to create a class blog and the Google list. I realize that it probably wasn’t rocket science to you, but neither idea would have occurred to me, that’s for sure. “The list” will be helpful for planning a larger bru HA HA (what would Mrs. Tilton have said about that word, by the way?)
By the way, I recently located Alison Sheffer (Jurado), and Molly put her email address on the Google list.
Hi everyone!
Thanks Molly for that cool web site with the food tips! Never knew it existed. That chicken you made was wonderful! All the food was great. We had enough for 3 times the crowd. I really liked the pot luck aspect of the get together. My partner and I are talking about having a smallish one here in Troy in Feb. for the folks near by. Maybe we could drum up some interest in a larger bru HA HA sometime in the future.
The site for large quantity recipes and tips is Growlies for Groups – I found it here: http://members.tripod.com/~lotsofinfo/index.html
They have suggestions for planning a large group menu. I used it for a large party of 35 and it was very helpful.
The recipe was Chicken Marbella. I changed it to use chicken breasts, cut in bite-sized pieces, because it is hard to cut food when you are standing or balancing a plate on your knees. Be sure to use a meat thermometer to hit the right temperature. When I did my large group, I had 4 9×13 pans in the oven and it took much longer – I think 1.5 hours.
And my dad had a blast seeing everyone. They both love a party.
Thanks for asking and hope you are doing well.
Molly-would you please thank your Dad for his parking help? It was greatly appreciated. Also I would love to have that Canadian website that had your chicken dish recipe. Will be perfect for the Thanksgiving gathering at our house. Thanks for sharing.
It was wonderful going down memory lane again. We all had some wonderful times together and it was so much fun to catch up with people. We have to do this again soon, hopefully with many more of our “old” friends. Thank you Molly for taking the initiative to put this together. I loved that it was so casual and relaxed.
Yes, Pat, we are all lucky indeed to have been able to make it and not on Don MacElroy’s now infamous list.
It was great fun laughing about the stories and memories shared during our reunion get together. Ron,Molly and her parents were so gracious and the lake was such a comfortable gathering spot. How lucky we all were to be able to spend time with old friends!
Great seeing you at the reunion. We need to do this again and I need to figure out how to add my boring history to this site. All the Best, Barb
This is just the basics for now. More to come as I figure out the best way to sum up 40 years. Oy Vey.
